David Hubert Warner Shand (6 April 1921 – 8 July 2011) was the third and last Anglican Bishop of St Arnaud.[1]
Shand was born into an ecclesiastical family,[2] educated at The Southport School and the University of Queensland and after wartime service with the AIF ordained in 1949. He began his career as a Curate at Lutwyche after which he served in various parishes before being appointed Rural Dean of Ipswich. He was the Vicar of Christ Church, South Yarra[3] then St Andrew’s, Brighton before being consecrated Bishop in 1973.[4] After the merger of his diocese with Bendigo he was Vicar of St Stephen’s, Mt Waverley then Bishop of the Southern Region, Melbourne[5] until his retirement in 1985. He died on 8 July 2011.[6]
